Default VT with WB rims ..

I know this thread is useless without pix, but this is about the tenth time I've seen this car and every time I see it, it freaks me out; a VT Exec with what looks like 14" WB steel rims and dog-dish hubcaps .. on the rear only. Obviously they must fit, but the offset is all wrong (the tyres stick out past the guards), and it just looks plain stoopid!! : This would HAVE to bordering on illegal/un-roadworthy???
.. it's like that Delorean in "Back to the Future" when they fitted the conventional tyres with whitewalls ..
.. I might go throw the 215/75 15" rims/tyres off my Plymouth Fury onto my AU ute and see how that looks. Mmmmm ... nice.

Rod.

I could never work out why someone would do it.

I saw a VT with VR clubsport wheels, looks terrible.

Well over that border IMHO.

The wheels sort of fit. The PCD on the HQ-WB Holdens was 5 x 4.75" (120.65mm) and Commodores are 5 x 120mm. So the wheels do fit over the studs and the studs bend enough to allow them to be done up but will eventually break. As you say the offset is all wrong too....and it's not even a good look.

i absolutely hate newer cars with old rims on them, its just looks plain ugly and wrong.

and you see alot more E series cars with 12 slotters than commodores with WB (or whatever) wheels

Jarvis Ford in Adelaide bought a whole heap of ex-lease VT and VX Commos and put fake Clubsport kits on them and labelled them GTRs. All of them seemed to have VR Clubby rims on them. I don't mind the look of that rim and it suits a few Commodore body shapes. I also have seen them on an E36 3 series BMW and it looked .

Current trend that annoys me is the use of 17in TX Territory steelies on a BA ute and a Hiace. Both in Mt Gambier.

nah the gtr commodores where made by asv (adelaide special vehicles), and yeah the old holden wheels do fit on newer models(but u need to make them). i went to skool with this guy that put kingswood steelies on his vp calais he was raving how sick it spins- we asked if they went on ok and he said it was a bit of a trouble and he had to bang them on with a hammer...we cracked up laughing a few days later when the tyres were bald and he asked if we knew how to get them off coz they wouldnt budge..
