Default Nissan Sykline related issue

Hi Guys just a general question i would like to ask you all.
As this is a non ford related issue.
Would this be the correct thread to ask a general question relating a 1998 Nissan Skyline R34.

Judging by what I've seen lately with Fords. Public transport seems a more likely solution to all my problems.

Opps sorry guys i spelled Skyline incorrectly.
Simple question to ask you and something i couldn't understand yesterday what was happening to this car.
My son purchased his first car about a week ago and i found it very unusual as the battery had gone completely flat.
The first thing that pooped in my mind was to do a current test while the car was turned off.
I recharged the battery for about 24 hours and when i took a reading with the meter while it was turned off and key out it appears that there is still something drawing current.
It measure at about 400 miliamps which i think is way to high.
So what i did was i started to remove each and every fuse from under the dashboard kick panel and under the hood one by one in a bid to find what was causing this. Nothing seemed to help.
while doing this it got better but.... not by much. I am now getting about 300 miliamps of current that is drawing out somewhere?
I thinks its still way to high and there isnt any alarm system on this car. Not that we think there is.
Any suggestion or do you think someone has hard wired something the wiring harness thats still on?

So keep the ammeter on it and simply start pulling fuses. If you pull a fuse and there is still the same current draw, plug it back in. If you come to a fuse that you pull and the current draw goes away then thats the circuit you need to investigate. Aftermarket car alarms can be a pain.

as mention here in my post
i did that already all fuses were removed and put back in one by one and it only dropped by 100 miliamps.
I now get about 300 miliamps.

Nah i doubt it can finish any race with all the other issues it has. lol

Reminded me of watching Richards in the R32 many many moons ago at Wellington Street race,"teething issues" saw it in the pits on many occasions but when race was done n dusted it still lapped that circuit 5 sec quicker than the Beemer that won which though it took me a few years saw one in the shed,amazing car.

hmm well this is a R34 with more issues than Richards will ever see and im stuck with it.

You could try isolating the alternator and then check if the vehicle system alone is still drawing the high off condition current. If you have spare alternator I would also just try to see if it makes a difference.

Hi I just did that i disconnected the alternator field plug and the main lead that goes to the alternator to completely isolate it.
Still no luck. Im getting a reading of about 285 miliamps

With any 2nd hand car & Battery Drain issue I would be looking for any aftermarket mods to disconnect first.

often tapped off battery power without going through the fuse box

R34.. probably has a subwoofa fitted.

Hi sorry for the late reply but you where right it did have a power amplifier under the front left hand passanger seat.
I disconnected it and it dropped from 420 miliamps to 130 miliamps.
Its much better now but not the best. It could be better.
I compared this to my Ford Falcon ute and it also has the same current drain as the Nissan Skyline.
So its ok for now and will in time i'll see if i am able to lower this further down or more accurately pin point what other components are affecting this reading.
I also took a reading from my wifes car a Honda Civic 2004 model and out of curiosity her car read zero current draw which is excellent when fully turned off.
So it was interesting to note as i did all three car at my home.
Thank you once again for all your help. I hope this thread helps other users with a similar issue as to mine in future.
