Hey guys.
I’ve got a leak at the back of my rocker cover. Looks to be where the gasket joins. So I’ve picked up a new rubber gasket from yesterford. Should I use any gasket adhesive to seal it? Or is it not required? Was also going to paint the rocker cover while it’s off with engine enamel. Any tips on prep work? |

If its the new style re-usable rubber gasket then it shouldn't need a sealer. I've heard mixed reports about these leaking and am about to find out myself as I'm using one on my new engine build.
With the rocker cover, take it back to bare metal if you can and use the matching primer, it makes a massive difference in the end result. If the plastic spark plug clips are still there be careful removing them as they're unobtainable now. Gently lever them off from underneath with a screw driver and put them in a safe place.

I went with no sealant/adhesive, cleaned down the surfaces and fit the new rubber gasket, but the join at the open ends of the gasket didn't align properly, it looks like the tab that locks into the end isn't in the correct spot.... If it's locked in, the gasket doesn't sit under the rim of the cover correctly.
To get it to fit I re-cut the notch that the tab fits into but it's not perfect. https://imgur.com/a/1AHjbiD |
