Default Latest Motor Magazine Cover...YES PLEASE!

Latest edition of Motor landed on my doorstep. Love the rendering on the front cover of a possible new GT. Yes it is similar to the Taurus lines but I like it. For the first time in ages I am excited about the new GT and Falcon. Shame it will be the last one.

Count me down for a stripe-less XR6 Turbo or G6ET with cashmere interior!

The problem will be choosing the color!

ill be impressed if they get aluminium panels. Sounds like fuel economy gains are imminent!

Yes - that design is very "taurus" - I'm still trying to digest it.
Yes its only concept / impression - but I'm not sure I like it......its very "YANK" .........yes with a Y

Alloy pannels would be nice if it was true but I'm a bit sceptical of that.

A decent wheel/tyre package would be a nice send off too- it's getting a bit ridiculous sticking to 8in wide wheels with the amount of torque that's available, even at the bottom of the performance range.

Ive read that Holden's aluminium panels are sourced from a mob in Adelaide so surely Ford could do the same?

I've got my hand up and expression of interest in at Sinclair Ford for an FPV between 2014and 2016; depends if Ford do something special with it on whether I'll take it up. If not, we'll see what they do. As posted elsewhere, I'm very partial to Mustang.

I knew there was something better about it. I make no apologies, but generally speaking those 'racoon eyes' are a spoiler on the FG, for me.

Having said that, the final model Falcon is likely to look very different to what's on the magazine cover.

Big fan of the look based on the rendering. IMO looks tough and modern, will definitely be saving my pennies to try to grab an ex-demo one.

I would find it funnier if it flogs all of HSV's offerings with less power to be honest.

Power wars over, says HSV’s Harding
Bucks for bang becoming too much for Holden’s performance arm

Go Auto
7 June 2013
By BARRY PARK

THE power wars are all but over, with HSV managing director Phil Harding conceding it is starting to become too expensive to chase after even more engine performance.

The go-fast arm of Holden used to pride itself on incremental upgrades to power over the life of a vehicle range, but that has now fallen to the rising cost of extracting even small amounts of extra poke at the rear wheels.

“I don't need to keep outdoing myself each year, and since the E-Series upgrade was launched the progress of power increases has been slower than it has in the previous 20 years,” Mr Harding told GoAuto at this week’s launch of the most powerful range of HSV cars yet.

His words mean this range of HSV vehicles could be the last of the big-horsepower cars developed in Australia, after its Gen-F series of cars that go on sale this week added a supercharged 6.2-litre “LSA” engine to its line-up that produces 430kW of power and a stump-pulling 740Nm of torque.

It sits alongside the normally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 engine that borrows some bits from the LSA engine – but not the supercharger – to produce a still-healthy 340kW and 570Nm, well up on the default 325kW and 550Nm.

Mr Harding said it was starting to cost him the same amount of money to tweak an engine for 5kW as it would for 50kW, making incremental increases unviable.

Pump the rear guards a bit more to accommodate wider rims and rubber and I'd love it.

What sort of information does it give in the magazine? Anything we don't already know or are guessing?

Well considering the Territory has similar headlight design then it's a pretty safe bet for the Falcon too, even if it is very Taurus. I think I cringe at the idea of a Taurus because the same is stuck with the 90's model. I think the Taurus in Aus with a different name wouldn't be too bad - even if I probably didn't buy one.

No chance that rendering is accurate - they look to have used the current Taurus doors and glass house. But as we all know the FG doors and glass house will be carried over.

I guess it'll sell them a few extra copies of this months issue...

yeah definitely the Taurus, even though its common knowledge that the current taurus will never be sold here. It also has its engines mounted transversely so cant take a V8.

Its nothing but a lazy, cynical attempt to sell more magazines with absolutely no relevance to what we'll actually get in the next Falcon.

Possible .. GM installed the 5.3L LS4 V8 transversely in Impala SS / Pontiac GXP.
