Default if there was no more falcons would you still buy a ford?

if/when ford stop building the falcon in the next few years

1- would you still buy a new ford?

2-what would you get?

3-if the taurus was the replacement would you consider buying that?

Yes I like the Focus and Mondeo.

I'm only really a second-hand-car-market-man for the now, so I would either buy more E-series, perhaps a B-Series. But I think jumping ship for second hand BMWs would be more likely.

Ford has already indicated that the post 2016 car will most likely bear the Falcon name
regardless of whether it's another RWD local design or a modified global vehicle.

The real question is whether ford should continuing another generation of the same genre
and risk sales evaporating before it arrives or make the leap and try to catch more of the
market with a slightly different car that appeals to a broader range of buyers.

Is it right to continue servicing the needs of an ever diminishing large car audience
when the majority of Ford's own fans either can't or won't go and buy a new one?

Since I already have two non-Falcon Fords, I suppose the answer is... yes to no. 1. A Fiesta or Focus ST for no. 2, and no to no. 3 (I don't have a need for a large car).

1. Yes
2. Mondeo, Focus ... or the new 2013 Escape.
3. Depends on what the new Taurus will look like, and what sort of hardware it's got.

Opel is a GM brand (Opel cars are Astra, Corsa (i.e. Barina) etc). The European Fords are from Ford Europe.

Holden is watching closely which way Ford heads, there are two questions:
- will the size of one vehicle be able to span both Mid and Large cars by just changing engines
- will the cars be RWD or FWD/AWD and how do we make parts sourcing efficient?

It depends on whether Ford wants to do CD4 Fusion/Taurus /Edge in RHD for Australia
or whether they use "one Ford' parts sourcing to build a common Falcon/Territory
that shares both with Mustang and CD4/EUCD Fusion/Taurus/Mondeo...

The decision is probably less about the driving wheels and more about maximizing sales
through selection of best product envelope.

I've heard the next series commodore will have a turbo V6 model.. If it compares to the I6t ford will probably go for that If the falcon got canned.

What can I say? Love the turbo 6.

Ford needs something rear drive or else I'd be looking at a Commodore. Taurus will be AWD at best and even that is front biased so forget it. They would need to send the Mustang our way if I was to buy something other than a Falcon/Territory.

My current lifestyle still suits large, RWD vehicles (adhoc horsefloat towing) so unless they had a suitable replacement - tow at least 2300kg, at least 360Nm, RWD or AWD - then I'd be looking elsewhere .. those options are becoming limited these days.
I wouldn't bother with a Ford for SUV or 4WD ute (a unwelcome option in the event of no more sedan/ute alternatives), just because everything else had a better reputation (i.e. people are always telling you how great Prado, Triton, Navara, etc are)
Only thing I'd be seriously interested in the Ford stable (with a change of life) would be the small Euro Fords .. they look good visually and value for money.

If I wanted to buy a basic A to B car, then yes I would look at the Mondeo or Focus in comparison to the rest of the market.

However, if I was after an upgrade with a car that is more performance orientated than NO, I would have to say that HSV is the only car that meets my particular needs at the current time.

Probably not. The Falcon is the only car in Ford's lineup that interests me. If I wanted a small car, which I don't, I'd buy Japanese. And I wouldn't be caught dead in an American car. I'd probably go for a BMW 5 or 7.

American is OK, as long as they did away with import duties that artificially inflate the price, filled them with as many toys as standard as the Yanks get, and up the quality to what Australians have come to expect as a minimum...in Australia we're not really used to cars being "built down to a price" and being virtually a disposable item after a few years...

Well then, my new replacement V8 falcon would be called a mustang then! But I`m tryin to stockup on enough falcons now so they will last the rest of my life!

No Falcon, No Ford sale, I like the Focus and Mondeo but not keen on medium cars, I like my big sedans so would go to Holden or HSV probably the latter.

I polled no, however that's because if there were no more Falcon, there would be no more FPV (falcons anyway) and I've no interest in FWD or FWD biased AWD. Even a "FPV" Mustang wouldn't cut it as I need to squeeze in 3 car seats in the rear.
I'd look at HSV (assuming they tone down the styling) or a 300C SRT8.
If I was in the market for a SUV, then it would be hard to go past the Territory, but I guess if the Falcon goes, then the Territory would as well, so doesn't leave much in the current Ford stable that I'd be interested in.

The next Commodore could end up as a FWD just as easily as the next Falcon.

Im exactly the same. If I am getting a Ford I want a Falcon. Not saying the others or not great cars, they are, but they dont do everything I want from a sedan.

So looking at sedans then that would leave me with the 300C, although auto only sucks.

Away from sedans a Ranger does fit all my needs, actually probably better than a sedan but it would depend on the ride; not a fan of carry a kidney belt with me when I want to run down to the shops. (hence my interest in a V8 ranger, that covers all bases for me).
