Hi guys,
I've been a long time lurker of the Ford forums and I've finally decided to make an account and join in. I'm a 16 year old guy, just got my licence last month and have been dreaming of having an FG Falcon in the garage for me to learn in. Are there many people like me around my age here? My parents are planning on buying a car, I've been trying to convince them to get an FG XR6 Falcon :p. But we will probably end up buying a ford so I thought it would be a great time to get some advice and join the Forums. This is my first post so apologies if this is in the wrong section. |

The EF's are mine, EB's are my parent's... That's why it's called "The Garage"... Unfortunately the garage itself isn't big enough :(
edit: that's a bit better to understand

Welcome, sux it takes so long to get your p's now, did learners on 16th birthday and p's 14 days later (min wait) back in late 84. Had a mate who lost his p's on the way back from the test. Good luck tryin for an fg. I got an xa with 3 on the tree drum brakes and a caved in rear door, but i loved it...............for a while anyways till i got an 351 xb gs at 18 (cop magnet) some things stay the same.

second hand, the fg is seriously good value, not that its not good value brand new, its just that if buying new, the fg is over 3years old now so some things aren't quite as 'up to the minute' as other makes and models just hitting the market. |

I've been doing some research and found a few fg XR6's under 80k near the $20-$22k mark. We went to a Ford Dealer at Brighton (VIC) yesterday and we saw a few for around $24k. I think we want to stick as close to 20 and under as we can. I saw a very cheap XT thats only run 48k too, $15800. It's even got RWC.. Link Unless I've missed something, looks very attractive, would be cheaper to buy a body kit for it and get it resprayed.. But again, being the kid, I'm 70% sure it wont happen. Here are a couple of cars I found. here here And the full listing here How many of those would go under $19,000? Also do you guys think $19-$20k for an FG XR6 under 60-80K too much to ask, even at the auctions? The guy at ford said you could easily get one, needless to say, I had a rather large smile when he said that, but then again, I'm not too sure Last edited by Kesh; 17-07-2011 at 09:42 PM. |

also, depending on whether its 5 or 6 speed could make a difference also. 6sp will generally sell higher but if you're like me, i was prepared to pay a bit more to get one. |

hahahah! cheers.
yeah i havent driven it much as its dads and we got it today, but its very quiet, extremely smooth, and has a nice punch to it :P, interior quality is better than my fg, the touchscreen is incredible, and the rear dvd player is huge and manages to block the rearview mirror ahahah :S the xr6 drives great as well :P so eager to get my wheels back again!

If it isn't an XR6, its going to be a small car, so naturally, ill recommend a Focus (XR5 Turbo is P plate restricted?? Not too sure) EDIT: Yep its banned. |
