anyone modded their focus with scuff plates like these? i've joined the focus ranks (well my wife has) and just looking at a few little things to personalise it.

The XR5s come with these as standard
They are a pretty nice easy addition.

If you do, find the ones with rubber all round under the edge, plus the d/s tape.
(you'll see a 1mm black edge all around. Usually abou $70)

Some are only stainless with a few strips of d/s tape beneath/

yeah, there is a few different sorts on ebay so its a bit of a lottery as to which ones are better than others. i might just get which ever looks the best to me and worry about how they attach later.

My scuff plates were purchased directly from Ford. They are just alloy with tape underneath. They also came with a stencil so I could line them up perfectly. I think they give the car a slightly more prestige. along with the alloy handbrake cover and alloy pedals.

Mine were originally on FocusOnThis' Mk1 Focus and the font is Mk1 Focus type and they make a great addition. Velociraptor82 has seen them and those in the picture that Prydey has linked looks like much better quality than mine.

Hey Prydey, I can recommend another accessory for you.

I bought some genuine mats a long while back, and they had two holes in the front ones. But there was nothing on the car to connect them to. Of course they stayed there, but they did move around, and my wife's heels kept geting stuck in the holes. Funny as all hell to see her get out and drag a mat out with her.

Anyhow, I bought some genuine carpet 'clips' the other day of UK Egay, and they fix to the base of the seat area, and hold those suckers nice and tight. They have a little twisty thing at the top that allows you to clip on/clip off the mat. All up AUD$15 landed for both sides.

(excuse the dirty carpets!) I know these are standard on some models, but not my POV Pack!!!

Those clips are probably the shittest part of my car lol! The tops pop off at the slightest knock, and they go back on fine - but once they fall off the first time, its pretty much just gravity that holds them down after that.

Cable ties are better.

floor mats are definitely on the cards. i know falcons just had a little clip that screwed into the carpet. either way, clips would be good. i was forever dragging the mat back from halfway up the footwell in the falcon.

the scuff strips are on their way. the only worrying thing is, if you look at the link now, the picture is changed. the ad has been updated as the price is also up $5 so hopefully the ones in the mail for me are the ones i ordered. don't really like the ones pictured now.

i'll take pics when i get them and put them in my other thread.

Default Laser Etched scuff plates - Focus Mk 1 AND Mk 2

I spotted these door sill covers on an ebay page a while ago, I think they look absolutely fantastic, and Ill be getting myself a pair for my '03 Zetec for sure!

They have either a long simple line down them, or you can have a little arty laser etching of a stylised 3 door Focus Mk 1 or a 5 door Mk 2

http://stores.ebay.com.au/Mod-World_...34Q2ec0Q2em322

Theres mk1 3 and 5 door kits, and mk2 5 door kits.

I guess this is as good a thread as any for this question, and it's probably a stupid one, but...

Is it safe to get seat covers with the side airbags (which seem to be at the outside of the bottom of the seat) in an LV Focus? I'd like to protect my life more than the seats, but if I can have both I'd be happier.

You can buy seat covers designed for the airbags that live in the side of the bucket seats. In fact you will probably find most unsuitable seat covers now come with a warning about not being used with side airbags.
All it is is they do not stitch down all the side where the bag is located.

Thanks for that. I guess it makes sense. All I've been able to find so far is ones that say they aren't suitable, but I suppose if I find a reputable brand that doesn't mention it, and check it doesn't go over the airbag, I should be Ok.

Thinking of replacing the blank panels in my CL with some foglights. Not that bothered they actually work, just don't like the blank panel. Seems like Ford themselves don't sell them here in Oz.

I'm wondering if anyone has tried these UK ones - do they fit? And, perhaps more importantly, is it possible to easily fit foggies to a car that doesn't have them already? I mean, if I pull those blank panels out, is the wiring already there in place? Given I'm not that mechanically inclined, if you guys say it's easy, it'll be hard for me...

Although these aren't for your model, might be worth shooting the seller an email to see if they sell the foglights for later model Focus. The ones you linked to look like they're for LS Focus as well.

Can't comment on whether the wiring is already there, but I imagine you would need a different light switch too?

Cant comment on those ones, but the ones I purchased off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ford-Focus-05...item1e60d5e828
Were a pretty good buy. These wont fit your model, but again if you ask they might have!

Came with all the wiring (this wasnt in the car) came with the surrounds the whole lot. Only down side, it has a seperate switch which goes in the fascia (next to the demister).

With connection, I had a mate help me to do a hard wire, but if you want it hooked up to acc, then might be worthwhile getting an auto sparky.
Really depends on how comfortable you are with electrics.
