Default Queenslanders read this please

This email was forwarded to me today and as it affects many of the members of AFF I would hope that we/they will take notice.

Dear All,

Below is a link to the petition to stop the increase of Car Rego in QLD by another $250 extra a year! This only takes a minute to do.

Please forward this onto every Queenslander you know. If this legislation goes ahead, we will pay in excess of $800 a year for rego - When Victorians pay less than $200 all up!

Thanks

I thought this had already happened, i.e. the price hike...Dead sure I paid a fair chunk more in rego this 1/2 of the year...

I shall 'sign' it again though.

Wow I wish I only paid $200 all up for rego! Try $500-$600.

But $800 is a bit much. Queenslanders pay according to engine size to dont you? What a rort.

Well I guess someones got to pay for the highest debt ever recorded from the current state government in Qld.

If a public listed business was run the way this state is run, apart from it going down the gurgler, those responsible would be serving jail time. It still amazes me how these clowns got voted back in.

Then again a government lead by someone who has the below experience prior to joining politics, what could we expect. :
Quote:
Prior to her election, Ms Bligh worked in community organisations, in the Queensland Public Service, and in employment, training and industrial relations policy.
Ms Bligh graduated with an Arts Degree from University of Queensland in 1980.
NB: PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS AS A SHOT AT ANY PARTICULAR POLITICAL PARTY. THEY ARE ALL IDIOTS EQUALLY IN MY EYES.

Thumbs down $200 What the ?

As I wrote last time this useless petition came around the last time I paid $200 for rego any where was in 1984 and that was $240 in Victoria for an HQ 253 wagon which I drove up here and when rego time came it was $285 in Qld
last rego for the Ghia six was $800 odd last July
thanks John
Ps if you are going to petition the government get your facts right before you start something because it looks so lame telling lies as it always comes back to bite you on the bum and makes you look so silly
thanks

It is classed as a commercial vehicle. But the main reason is, because they can.

Is that third party insurance charge what it appears to be - ie, third party property insurance? If so, there isn't much difference between NSW and Victoria as we have to purchase this seperately. Or is this just the same thing as our TAC charge, which correct me if I'm wrong, is kinda like public liabiltiy insurance. It definitely doesn't cover property anyway.

I can't see why yours would be different? I thought they were standard across the board ..... unless they have put them up slightly? The one I noted is due in Sept for the Landau and also Eastern Suburbs.

I'm always dubious about a petition that is hosted by the Government itself...but I signed it anyway.

A far more effective petition would be to fedral treasurer (a Queenslander himself) demanding parity in GST revenue distribution. It's criminal that near bankrupt states like Victoria and NSW have to be bailed out by the rest of Australia.

Couldn't sign it as they wont let us furriners protest!

However from what I read of the petition it was for pensioners and said keep it LESS than 20%. Does this mean that the honourable member (Lawrence Springborg) wouldn't mind an increase but not 20%.

TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of QueenslandQueensland residents draws to the attention of the House that due to a 20% increase in vehicle registration, as pensioners we will find it extremely difficult to be able to continue having our car on the road and as we live in a rural area, that will mean we would have to move to an area that has good public transport.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to review the vehicle registration increase to be less than 20%.
