Winton do track days regularly as do Sandown. Keep an eye on the VIC/TAS events section here for the next one.

Calder park has Open Practice days. Will cost you about $200-250 + pertol for the day.
A few of us from work venture out there occaisionally and it's usually pretty quiet too. Best check dates out with their website. http://www.calderpark.com.au/op_calendar.shtml |

About ten years ago, i did track work at Sandown raceway...half-days or full. Think I organised it via the Jim Murcott driving school. Half day was more than enough, esp when u consider the wear and tear factor on both yourself and the car. Contact Sandown raceway directly for more info.
Suggestion: to save your XR8, do what i did, and rent a new Falcon or Commy. Return it to Hertz looking worse-than-ever, but with no actual damage |

These are roughly the highest indicated speeds that I get up to on Victorian circuits. This is with a peaky FWD who’s strengths are brakes and cornering. They can all be tricky for beginners with Phillip Island probably being the scariest. Sandown has a nice long straight in the dry (with runoff at the end) but watch the back section where the Armco can be quite close.
Phillip Island – 205ish Sandown – 200ish Calder – 195ish Winton – 190ish The hire car scenario has been tried by some people, just bear in mind that you won’t be covered with insurance. |
