I'm with you, but a nice change all the same!

I agree, simpsons has gone downhill, but I guess no show can go forever before they start to have dodgy episodes. Turned more to Family Guy now days, but watch simpsons just because there is absolutely nothing else to watch at that time, plus the remote it often out of arms reach...

Apart from it being in HD, it pretty well sums up the awfulness that the simpsons has become in years of late.

Now I'm usually the first person to defend the Simpsons, as it is my favourite show ever, but I have to agree. The last few seasons haven't been all that great.

I like it. The Simpsons opening sequence had remained the same ever since Season 2. Season 1 had a number of differences but was still the same basic format. Really about time they changed it.

Meh. The episode wasn't much to write home about. A few giggle moments but that's about it. They should have taken that horse out the back and shot it years ago.

I believe Matt wants to but Fox throw that much money at him to keep it going.

You guys are too hard on the Simpsons. 20 years on, it's still a really good show. I watch it for what it is. Entertainment with a few laughs. I try not to analyze each episode. I sit with my 8 year old son who loves it and we watch it together and just enjoy it. Simpsons will never get old and tiring. It's still the greatest ever show (asides from MASH) to grace the idiot box.

It's the couch gag that has been extended. It won't always be that long.

Bucknaked, I understand what you are saying, but compare the latest season to say, season 7 and you can tell the writers are running out of ideas.

But the starts are always different, it may be an intro, but as far as I am concerned its part of the show, and often gets a chuckle from me

Pretty good, but like others have said extendend version of the start shortened version of an episode.

The start i haven't seen in ages is the one where Bart skates past the bus stop and steels the Bus Stop sign.

I don't mind the new sequence.

As far as the shows ' decline in quality' is concerned, I still enjoy the new episodes, but the way I like to put it is that the First 10 years are better than the second 10 years, but that doesn't mean that the second 10 years isn't good.

It still kicks Family guys poorly animated ****!

I can't think of another show I watched when I was 7, have watched all my life, now watch with my kids and still am not sick of it. Seinfeld was comic genius, the Family Guy is gold but the Simpsons are in a class of their own.

I like it and the episode itself was really good too.

Bravo to the creators of a timeless classic cartoon.

I'm not sure if it'll be timeless but it certainly helped pave the way for other sitcoms and movie based cartoons with adult themes. At the very least they should be congratulated for that. If your kid was jumping up and down to see Shrek then it wasn't 90 minutes of your life you couldn't get back...

I've been a fan of the Simpsons since its first episode, however, the last few years I've almost stopped queing that latest torrent download since there have been some real stinkers.. but I've persisted.

I'd love to be Sam Simon though, probably a billionaire and being one of the creators of The Simpsons and since been removed, still getting millions of Simpsons dollars for doing nothing.
