Default Cops and Ambos bashed

What the hell is wrong with people these days??

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574...89-421,00.html

This would not happen if cops were allowed to be cops in the old school sense!! Just no respect any more.

And what's with Ambos and Paramedics copping it too??? These guys save lives and they get bashed for it?? Talk about screwed up!!

There should be zero tolerance to this garbage!! It seems idiots can stick the boot in knowing there's no real chance of being charged and if so just let off with a slap on the wrist. People like that should be aquainted with the Yellow Pages Brothers!!

thats pathetic, cops need to give it back twice as hard, and be immune from civil or state action.

What do you expect when you have parents like that of the kid that got shot by Police recently. It is never the kids fault, they're good kids, it's always the Police's fault for being there.

Why would the kids nowadays take any responsibility if their parents refuse to?

Absolutely. Carrying 2 knives and threatening police, capsicum spray didn't work, what was left to do? I'd prefer the person wielding the knife was taken out rather than a police officer that tried to use non-lethal force and failed.

The force becomes even more toothless when situations like this occur because the kid is always painted as a saint and the police as murderers.

It's cause of the PC crowd not letting you belt your kids when they do something wrong.

Why it is that the majority of people over 24 (estimate) can do the right thing?

Cause we got belted when we did something wrong when we were younger.

Now you can't even sneeze without being looked at funny.

I blame the hippies.

Its far better to be belted (wrong word smacked) by your parents that love you, rather than enter society thinking you are imune to punishment and being belted (beaten) by someone.

People beat up cops and ambos because the justice system says its ok - you will only get a slap on the wrist - so its cant be that wrong.

I blame hippies too

My son is about to sit the Police Exam in the New Year and I tell ya, I would prefer him to do factory work or something similar as I can see many sleepless nights ahead for me with worry for his saftey but he is determined that it is what he wants to do.

My Dad always use to say, you raise your kids right and they will do right! Wise words I think.

If Ambo's and Police keep getting abused and bashed as they are now, there will be less and less people wanting to join. Then where would we all be??

Unless the justice system starts throwing the book at drunken clowns who bash people just because they can't handle the booze and think their heros, then it will continue to get worse. I've read it over and over again in the newspapers when some moron gets on the booze and king hits someone cause he's so tough : , then the courts give them a fine or a suspended sentence and off they go to do it again. Thats not stopping anyone from doing it. Give them a few weeks in jail, that will make them think twice next time they want to do it.

It's even worse that these thugs are allowed to be helped. Such as those who abuse ambulance members when they are the ones who called them for help in the first place.

I would just leave them there to die, as there are other genuine people out there who need help at the same time.

Same scum that throw rubbish bins over and break bus shelter windows "just for fun".

when these people are arrested, their names should be kept in a special database, and if anyone on the database ever calls 000 they should not be assisted. i'm sure they won't mind, considering they have no respect for the emergency services anyway

There kinda is, well addresses get flagged for violence or health issues. E.g abusive HIV persons, etc.

Most times the ambulance service won't attend without police there as well, but I do agree with you.

They should not be helped. Resources are over-stretched as it is and I would be quite angry if an ambulance response was delayed for me or my family due to the reason they were attending a case involving a thug. Unfortunately, my view isn't popular amongst those civil libertarian groups.

This is easy fixed for future generations.
Abolish the responsable thinking chair\room and bring back the cane, the old
mans belt and mum's wooden spoon(or jug cord what ever was closest).
When I was growing up I got caned at school then had to stew all day about what the
old man would do to me when I got home, which was worse than the punishment.
+1 for its the hippies fault.

this sort of thing happens quite often its discusting

Even as a volanteer firey Ive been "roughed up on 2 occasions" and on another occasion one of our officers got beet up so bad he ended up with minor brain damage

the thugs that do this sort of thing weather it be to a police officer, ambulance officer or fire fighter deserve every thign we can throw at them and more

What is particularly disturbing is the trend of beating up ambos, firefighters and paramedics.

They aren't there to give anyone a hard time or enforce the law like the coppers ( I cants see why anyone would want to bash a cop either but can see why someone who has had a run in with the cops may not neccesarily like them).

Why would you want to bash an Ambo? There job is purely to help people. Its a sick sick world!

If people are prepared to beat up police officers and ambulance crew without remorse, strip their name and phone number from the service list.
When somebody attacks them and they call for help, why should they come and help?

Sounds cruel, but a real hard stand is required otherwise things may change...

Hmm...ethically wrong, but I don't care for pricks who don't care about others that do good in the world.

My brother had to subdue a bloke the other week for exactly this. Some clown was injured for doing whatever it was, and refused to be put into the ambulance so started assaulting them and wrecking the inside of the ambo. My brother's workmate came in with a bottle of capsicum spray to calm him, all ii did was cover the whole inside with it and everyone copped it. My brother was saying his face and arms were itchy for 2 days afterwards. I guess it goes to show that young moron was on something at Northcote the other night to cop 2 cans of it and still threaten to kill police

I agree 100% if you get done with belting an ambo, firey or a copper then you are disbarred from help. Also if these idiots come down at the cop shop asking for help after being bashed they should take em out the back and belt the crap out of em as well.
Its hard to be tough when you cant walk.

I agree. Too many civil libertarians around the place trying to protect the rights of the criminals. Everyone wants to sue. You can't protect yourself by fighting back anymore, they get hurt, they can sue you. Give the authorities more powers to police, rather than being policed.

Was at the races recently and saw an inncodent which i wasn't impressed with. A few older guys starting picking on some of the younger guys and one of the older gents who would have been mid 30's and legless called this young lass with the young guys a then he proceeded to belt the young guy till the coppers came then tok off. 4 or 5 of the young guys were thrown to the ground and cuffed, while they tried to explain they hadnt done anything 2 young coppers proceded to kick the living hell out of 2 of them. They then rolled one kid over and repeatedly hit him with a battern and even sprayed his mate with mace.

A few older women walking past question the force they used as they had seen the innocodent from the begining & started tapping it on their phones, a 3rd officer came in and tried to ripthe phone from their hands and ended up hitting a mid 40 year old women to the ground with a battern for resisting arrest. Within a few minutes about 40 police were present and were holding anyone who tried to video it, in cuffs.

Its no wonder why no one has respect for them any more when they carry on like this, these kids should have been helped as they were 18-19 atmost while the other guys were all late 20's early 30's and were instead beaten to the ground. Anyone who saw what actual happened and tried to explain what happened was also treated the same way. What was ammusing to me was that when a good 15 people tried to complain to the higher ranking officers that evetually turned up their excuse was their allowed to use any force they require to detain a person.....

you give police officers even more power and authority to belt a thug when they might have to, the thugs will get what they deserve, but the innocent people as mentioned by the above incident will still get a beating, maybe even a bigger one, for no good reason.

an issue such as this has two sides to the fence, and each has its pros and cons to consider

Yeah thats why I said in an earlier post that I can understand some people taking a disliking to the cops. I have seen a similar incident and it kind of takes your idea of the law being fair and just away. Still no excuse to bash any old cop for the hell of it though and what blows my mind is why you would want to belt a paramedic!

They should make these thugs spend 24hrs with the different departments of Emergency service so they can walk a day in their shoes. Total disgrace.
