Default Web site builders

Hi guys,
I have just had my website go live (has taken nearly 4 months!) and there are quite a few things I am not happy about with it.
I was wondering if I can get some feedback from it and what you guys think of it.
I am going to be a FF sponser so I wan't my website to be perfect before I do.
There are alot of things I need to add to it, in peticular a page dedicated to the new JTG liquid injection systems that we have been lucky enough to be one of the few workshops selected to fit it. So that needs a lot more added to it alone. but there are heaps of other services we provide that have not been covered on the site. And alot of the wording could be better, I even had a copywriter re-write it, but to no avail. Everything I try to write up for it either sounds too technical or corny.

What I would like to know is if there are any website builders here and if they would be able to work with what I have and do anything better???
I don't want it totally overhauled, mainly cause I paid a fortune for it allready, but just added to a little and cleaned up, and written by someone who has an idea about cars and loves cars. that would make it work the best I reckon.
or should I just try and work with the guy who built it and take all the suggestions you guys give me and get him to fix it accordingly.
Help me please!!!! I want it to be something wicked before I attach it to the Forums.
Lots of thanks in advance.
Anthony.

Well for starters the FG Ute has a girly horn and the links bar is infested with crickets ....

But seriously, i don't know websites but it looks good and is quick too load which is important.

Will you have a price list for common conversions ?

I think the Horn annoys the hell out of me. But so far most people have liked it so I left it.
I do have price lists for common conversions but they are Retail and I give AFF members a discount and LOTS of free extra's.
Drop me a line if you need a quote.
I LOVE AFF and really can't wait to do my bit to help it keep running, cause I know that I get alot of customers from here so its about time I give something back to the Forum I love so much!

Josh, who is CDAA??? Is he in Melbourne by any chance???

CDAA is a member here, he has a very tidy blown GT, he does KPM's website and does web building and I think hosting.

Thanks Guys. My digital agency did the KPM website some time ago and did the Herrod more recently. There's more examples on our website www.cdaa.com.au

Anthony, happy to have a look for you and will get back to you via PM. Problem maybe that we are booked up until August but I will see what I can do.

Hi Anthony

Thanks mate but I can’t take all the credit. I have a great team of talented individuals behind me that plan, project manager and create our solutions. My role is more is strategy and creative direction..apart for running the agency of course

I don’t think you have to be concerned about being ‘good enough’ to be a forum sponsor. You appear to have a great product, passion and a customer focused work ethic which is all anyone could ask of you here or anywhere else for that matter.

Just briefly your website is starting point and depending on what you wish to do (and budget) we can make a substantial difference to how your website positions your brand, delivers content and provides an appropriate user experience.

One quick thing that I would recommend is removing the ‘horn’ activation function in the Flash (animation) header . Hearing it once is ‘interesting’ but due it being positioned near the primary navigation menu at the top of the site most users will trigger the horn noise as they attempt to navigate. This is likely to distract them from the content being served, plus further discourage user interaction. As a general rule with any type of audio or animation you're best to use it when it adds value and purpose. We normally tend to use it as a communication or promotional tool which drives a call to action.

I’ll have a better look tomorrow and be in touch.

Colville

Far out the KPM site is fair awesome.
I feel a bit daunted about being in the same league as some of the sponsers that are currently linked to AFF.
I am only a small shop with 3 guys, but I love what I do and pour my heart into all my conversions, and always give something special to the AFF guys.
I hope I can do the Forums justice, but like I said I don't know if I am big enough to be considered a sponser??
I don't do high volume and am not intersested in doing so because quality can be comprimised but I am more interested in putting the care back into the LPG conversion industry. The personalisation is just not there anymore. all these big joints sell what THEY wan't and put stuff where they want, with no consultation with the customer. I love doing custom conversions that suit the owner and even our standard Impco conversions I always ask the owner where they want the cahngeover switch, if they wan't hidden wiring, hidden components ECT. Its really not that hard to give the customer what they want but it seems to be well beyond most conversion companies nowadays.
I have customers comming from all over victoria, mainly thanks to the forums, and now from interstate just to get the extra's we provide. so that is just testament to the level of crap that is out there.
I had one member come to me from Bendigo last week just cause no one next to them wanted to spend the time to refit their subwoofer on the parcel shelf of a AU fairmont premium sound system. everyone said to them that it would need to be removed completely, and I do it at no extra charge!. I also fit a set of I.C&E ignition leads and gas plugs for free. free loan car and free full tank of gas and free first service.
But like I said I just hope that my work is good enough to be a decent froum sponser.

looks pretty good to me.

only a couple of little things that i spotted that could help with your branding (making sure everyone remebers your name) . instead of using the word "we" so much you could replace it with "A & M Automotive "

"We" specialise in: = A & M Automotive specialises in :

"We" use the latest tuning, = A & M Automotive uses the latest tuning ,

and i would change the title "opening special" to something like "website special" to prevent anyone getting the idea that you may be inexperienced.

if you have been in the trade for a reasonable amount of time then you could put that in as well. eg ..." providing perfection since 1999"

... and i just noticed that i couldnt find an address on you front page. i think it is important to let people know where you are for several reasons : credability - people are more comfortable dealing with someone they can locate, a lot of people like to drop into your workshop to talk business and check you out, prepares customers to arrange whether they will need to travell or not, etc. ( i can tell your in vic somewhere because i reconise the (03) area code and you have the vic roads logo) must remember the internet is world wide.

Yes as I said before, that horn is driving me nuts. And you can tell the customers that are veiwing the site whilst they talk to you on the phone as you can hear it go off a number of times.
I am confident that you can make it something special and something that reflects the passion we put into our work.
I'll look forward to speaking to you soon.

Good site! As stated before your address isnt on your home page but I didnt see it anywhere else? If I was looking I like to know where I am going. Even if its just on the contact page which would be enough. A google map isnt a bad thing to add either!

Hi mate,

Only had a real quick look at your site, clicked through the main pages, no expert either but anyway,

-Some people think scrolling should be kept to a minimum (which i agree with).

-I would lose the sounds.

-Maybe a bit more differentiation between articles/sidebars etc.

-Some small things i don't like so much simple things like fonts/size/color of text.

-Use of 'white space' (i.e how u use blank areas to seperate and relate different pics/text etc.

Its easy enough for you to change the content so i wouldnt worry too much about that.

I think its pretty close actually overall.
Anyway thats just my opinion thats all good luck with it.

Cheers

Craig

Yep you look at all the big stuff and forget some of the little stuff. I like the horn but as said it could be a little anoying too often. You're a hard worker, I have been in the LPG forums of late being a recent convert and often wondered that you are either not married or you have a very understanding missus cos you are either at work very late and/or always on the forums. Any how best of luck and I hope all the hard work pays off for you as I'm sure it will. :

The little 'whiissp' at the top is fine, but that horn is just damned annoying. And, none of the gallery pics seem to be working when clicked on.

I missed catching up with you at the BBQ the other week.
Going good, well getting there, there is still alot I want to do, but can't seem to find the time.
Lots of late nights, in fact I am typing this from work at nearly 11:00pm.
Got stuck doing a bloody VP SS conversion. And still not finished!!!
Yeah drop in mate, I have a apprentice here that would cream himself over your car.
You got to see the look on his face when some of me mates rock up in their tough Fords. Its priceless to say the least.

There seems to be a problem in the contact us page. When I sent you a mail using it and you replied, I could not respond because everthing was blacked out. It may be worth you while sending yourself a message to see what I mean. I do like the horn but can see how it could be annoying so is it possible to turn it off and retain the flashing lights and dance?

I don't know what your holden customers may think of it either so it may be worth thinking of adding one of there products on different pages so there is a mix.
Good luck with it all.

Yeah, I figured that one out.
You need to select white font colour to make it work on the black background.
Another rubbish feature.
