What performance advantage would it offer?

Private...it is not the throttle body I am intersted in but the mechanism which drives the throttle body plate.I cant say too much this early in this idea I wish to develop as I dont want to end up with egg on my face.Lets just say it has never been done before!! Depending on costs it may never happen but please bear with me.If it works I am going to patent my idea!! If it works were gonna break some hearts!!

probably doable, would you keep the au t/b or use the ba one tho? only issue i can see is idle control as the ba is all ecu controlled, as for what for, i'd say w*nk factor, just to prove you can lol

it's pretty close to that anyway, but just play around slightly with it till you get it right, definitely 5-0 tho, not the other way around

Hey Stav, i did alot of fiddling with these. Few things to consider:
Keep in mind its an electric motor and electric motors run off a sine wave and need special speed controllers to control them. This goes for nearly all electric motors ranging from remote control cars to big 3 phase water pumps

When hooking up the secondary throttle body as electric i used the jaycar motor/servo controller kit and even then it would turn on and snap the throttle open when it needed to be. Hooking up straight power from the battery (even regulated) resulted in nothing since it needs to be a sine wave (500hz iirc) i had all the data sheets for the electricals of these TB's but have since lost them all.

Its not all that simple i found but give it a shot.

If you need a TB to play with let me know i may have a few parts still laying around.

I find the flybywire a PITA. I much prefer the feel of the AU throttle.

imp, i haven't found the ba throttle to be too much different to the au one. the alloytec commodore ones are set up like s*it tho, it's all or nothing, in vz and ve...there's no smooth acceleration in them, ba's i have found are still fairly linear

I find quite the reverse with the BF - you kind of have to depress the throttle about about 1/2 of the way down before you get any significant response. You're pushing against the spring for the first bit, but nothing is happening under the bonnet.

there are three sensors on teh foot pedal of the BAs
1) Ascending potentiometer
2) Descinding Potentiometer
3) On/Off Switch
the ECU calculates the throttle opening from the values of the ascending and descinding potentiometers, the on/off switch is used for idle switching and traction control.
the ecu not only uses these inputs for throttle control but also but also traction control and torque limiting control (gearbox safer).

so now u gott find a way to use these sensor inputs to create a signal to the TB motor (unsure if its a frequency based signal or a voltage based one)

food for thought ...

Abacus is on the money. I HATE FLYBYWIRE. I want instant. i say go it should go.
Its not only fords either. The commodores are worse. Late last year my work car got 'upgraded' (pfft) from an awesome VYII wagon to a VZ wagon. What a heap of puss the VZ is - and the electronic throttle is the culprit.

I will say, i can't notice the electronic throttle on the VE's though. They are damn fine cars, with one or two exceptions.

YUP called torque limiter or torque control. can easily be reduced through flashing :
