Rip you off as far as I'm concerned. What the hell is the dealer there for except to sell and deliver vehicles?
What other retail products have this scam added? |

Options do not count, so if you get bluetooth, prestige paint and leather you still only pay stamp for the RRP. Thats how it is in WA, not sure about eastern states. |

I'm not saying there were none around but in March when we bought ours (12/07 plate) there weren't any 08s to be had despite a big search. We were told this was because the time lag between building and landing in Australia was 3-4 months.

The charge is a scam
Truckies get a payment of roughly 1 car to deliver 6 so the dealership get 5x1695=8475 And the truckie get 1695 Dont pay it |

My dealer wanted $2500, until I told him I was entitled to fleet discount through my employer.
He dropped without fuss to less than a third. Even that seemed steep for them to collect it from the docks. Seems like a way of clawing back the money discounted on the original deal offered to get a sale.

All this talk about delivery charges, whether they are justified, etc, is just so much bollocks,
There are only two numbers you need to think about: - If you are buying the car outright, it's the drive away price - if you are trading a car, it's the changeover price. I never understand why peole get so hung up on dealer delivery. It's just one of the components in the equation. Shop around, get the best drive away price or changeover price you can. It doesn't really matter what the any specific dealer charges for base price, fee options, delivery, etc. It's what comes out of your pocket when the deal is finalised that matters. |

First I not hung up about it!, I was pointing out a price for a service that I think is a rip-off,just like the price of petrol or diesel people still fill up their cars doesn't stop them from bitching about it.

All negotiated deals are determined by who can set the "anchor price" first. If the dealer can use an inflated delivery charge to set his anchor price higher then it makes it harder for the customer to drive the price back down again.
Any subsequent reduction in "drive away price" is distorted by the overstatement of the delivery costs. So you think you got a better deal than you have. Bottom line if you can't improve the deal, either pay up or walk away to the next dealer. But make sure the next dealer can offer a better deal before you walk away from the first. (Known at BATNA "best alternative to a negotiated agreement")

$39,067- for a brand new Mondeo XR5 on the road seems like an absolute bargain. Everywhere I go I seem to get the old saying that there is not much room for movement in the price.
Is that price with a choice of colour as well? |

as far as i know dealer delivery also contributes to the Pre Delivery of the car.
the standard dealer delivery charge for fords/holdens/toyota's is anywhere from 1495 to 1795. In some cases people have many different bits and peices fitted to their car. Take a tradie's van for instance. It might have a nudge bar, tow bar, roof racks, bonded window. gas conversion, tint, cargo barrier and a lot more. Tint and gas need to be outsourced and the van will be trucked there and back, that costs money. Then you have to spend many man hours at PD fitting the other stuff. I know it may seem like a bit of a rip off if all you want is a standard car. but every new car sold has it charged. What matters is the final price or changeover.

I was wondering how people are going with prices for the new Mondeo XR5. I am being told pretty much that the RRP is what they are selling for, but I was wondering if anyone is doing any better. I was also wondering if the waiting times have come down, or if it is still months for particular colours.
