Other than that, having a rough time deciphering what you're actually trying to say. I've tried to work it out, R8 is getting the Vette engine for a second attempt to release a 427 GTS? But the LS1 is a Vette engine. Now the second bit I'm not quite sure about. Destend, destined? The R8 is going to cost $200k or the old 427 was going to cost $200k a year? What's going to be standard equipment? I'd assume an engine is standard equipment in most cars. Skip.. here Skip.. where's Sonny...? |

LS3 standard on all HSV's but you seemed to indicate that only the R8 got the LS3 in your first post? So does this mean they're dropping the standard Clubby? |

The following from mid April will be on sale with the 317kw LS3 6.2L V8: Clubsport R8 Maloo R8 Grange Senator GTS Then at around $125k powered by the LS7 7L V8: W427 As said the current E series has been capped at 317kw due to driveline constraints and torque remains the same, although the torque curve is even better than on the current LS2. Expect 327-330kw with the VF update when they are able to wind the engine up. Expect the LS3 to hang around until the next all new Commodore as it is the last of the Gen IV (along with the LS9) range of engines. Like the LS1, it has plenty of room for improvement (LS1 started at 220kw, ended at 260kw). |

AFAIK there are no plans for a Holden based power upgrade until the VF. They'll just have to cop the power deficit to Fords XR8 on the chin until then. |

I believe the LS3 will replace the LS2 V8s in the Clubsport, Clubsport R8, GTS, Senator, Grange etc.

Phew - was afraid the FPV GT would be looking at going up against a 327kw HSV. Its apparently kept at 317 because they didn't want to have to rework the diff and driveline completely (according to wheels).

The LS2 in the Corvette had 300kw and the LS2 in the HSVs had 307kw.
The LS3 in the 08 Corvette has 325kw and in the HSVs will only have 317kw? Doesnt sound right to me.

It may also have something to do with marketing, It gives them a massive change to add in for the next series.

297kW 530Nm in the VZ HSV's. 307kW 550Nm in the VE HSV's. The difference? Exhaust systems for each vehicle, intake setup in each vehicle. The power won't be 100% the same between three totally different vehicles. Pretty easy to figure out. 324kW 575Nm for the LS3 Corvette, by the way.

[edit] LSX At the 2006 SEMA show, GM Performance Parts introduced the LSX engine, an all-new cast-iron racing block based on the LS7 engine. It was designed with help from drag racing legend Warren Johnson, and despite being based on GM's small-block design, it offers displacements ranging from 364 cubic inches to 511 cubic inches (4.25" Bore x 4.5" Stroke) and is capable of withstanding 2500 bhp. This block incorporates two extra rows of head-bolt holes per bank for increased clamping capacity. The six bolt steel main caps are the same ones used on the LS7 engine. The engine debuted at the auto show in a customized 1969 Camaro owned by Reggie Jackson. The LSX will be available starting the second quarter of 2007, set to be available in authorized dealerships and retailers on March 31, 2007.[5]

I wasn't aware they dropped the standard Clubby, seems like a huge mistake to me, but oh well.
There are plenty of modded LS1's running the standard driveline and pumping out bigger numbers without fault (even though I did have a tailshaft issue that eventually killed my diff but allowed me to install 3.91's guilt free...) so is it a case of playing it ultrasafe or is that just rumor as the reason? |

The April release of the LS3 sounds like a load of crap to me, because thats only a week away and yet HSV have said nothing? If they were releasing it they will spend millions to tell the world in typical Holden fashion. Why would they wait so late, when they already have a waiting list, as its not like they have to sell all the old stocks of LS2, cause there really shouldn't be many. If you ordered one right now by the time you got it, it would a few months till you get it. Surely they will wait until the series II is out in October? |

What's this obsession people have with comparing tuned vehicles to factory standard? Compare apples with apples. [edit] - noticed Falc'man already said this, so, yeah, what he said :P |
