Default whats a TE50

Hi all..

I was driving on Roe highway in Perth last weekend and saw an au with a TE50 or TS50 badge on the back.

I must be blind or stupid ( or both ) cause ive never seen one of these before.

It had a pretty basic body kit with nana looking mags.

There cant be many around cause its the first one ive seen.

What sort of motor have they got ( v8 or I6 ) and how are they different to an au xr6? I presume they must be limited edition?!

They're like the FPV models of the AU series (Tickford back then). Top of the line.

The TE50 ran a 5.0L/5.6L Windsor V8, the TS50 was a luxury version of the TE.

There was also a LWB/Fairlane based model - TL50.

Ahh o.k.

Were there only a certern amount built then?
How many kilowatts did they claim to have? And were they decked out like a fairlane?

For full info on their history - go to www.fpv.com.au, and click on the History (or maybe Heritage) link. Everything you ever wanted to know about the XR and T series cars is there (and more!!).

TE & TS bodtkits & machanical's are identical, the only difference's was the level of trim.
In series 3 only. The TE was futura, & the TS was fairmont.
Series 1 & 2 TE & TS were fairmont. TE got the 200kw motor TS 220kw in series1.
Series 2 both got 220kw.
So how the TS looks better than the TE has got me??? :togo:

Driving lights in the TS were the only basic difference in T1/2 TS TE

T3 exactly the same.No difference at all.

You are correct. T1 & 2 TE50's were Fairmont based TS50's were Ghia based but with different front seats. (From ELGT's in fact).

Early 220 motors also ran alloy SVO heads.

T3 were XR based for a TE and Fairmont for TS. But that was to offset the cost of the awsome stroker motor.

Hope that helps.

Good pics there HLC.

Even though I'd prefer the TS, I'd love one with a TE front bar! LOL!

Heck, just give me any T Series! LOL!

LOL............

No wonder they never sold well, Ford fans dont even know what they are..LOL

There is a whole other section on this site, infact, a different way of thinking aswell.

Great cars, I saw a T1 the other day and thought it was sexy; let alone the T3.

How do you explain the T3 with a 5.6 then, doesn't really give that away does it.

Well I must confess I've never heard of a TE/TS 50 until I came on this forum. I knew about the Pursuit 250 from a mate of mine who nearly bought one...but never knew about the sedans.

to me, the difference is that the T1 TE50 doesnt have driving lights, where the TS50 does, and theTE50 has mesh where the TS50 has a slat through it. they look to be the same bar though

Not quite a tarted up XR...unless of course Factory Body Kit, Upmarket Interior, Brembos, Lowered suspension with Adjustible Konis, a 302 stroked to 5.6 Litre, Forged Rods, Custom Built Intake, larger Valves, uprated cam, line bored hand built engine, ESS Auto with Streering Wheel Mounted Gear Change Buttons with 250Kw and 400NM of Torque don't count......

T Series owners tend to be very one eyed about their cars. To a lot of people the newer BA was a let down when it come to perfromance.

My Stock Standard T3 (Series 3)TS50 Auto can consistently beat BA XR8's and GT-Ps as well as XR6 Turbos down the drag strip... it's all about torque and when and where it comes in a Stroked T Series pulls like a school boy from about 2000 RPM, the newer Boss Engines don't come on song until about 3500.

This on top of the fact they were a very limited production run makes them very collectible. They weren't appreciated when new and the Ford Marketing machine didn't help sell them... but people are now starting to realise just how good they are.
