Default worn brakes + new

k i have worn brakes and its bad their like a 10mm lip in the rotor :S so i have a high series au 1, will these ebay cheapo brakes fit?
im gonna upgrade and get a hole new "cebco" brake setup, i think thats what the form sponser is.
so for now i just need something. and with no abs it takes to long to brake.

For around $150 a pair, why not just fit new standard rotors - a lot safer than what you have.

While I'm sure the Cebco package is good, upgrading to AU2 or BA/BF/Terry brakes is way cheaper and just as effective.

Default brake rotors

I would give Repco or Autobarn a call and use there rotors not ebay.Get genuine ford pads are best to use.Other wise get cebco straight away which will cost about $1500 for front set.Cebco brakes are good but there are other brands available.

What do you mean by no abs because it takes too long to brake?

I hope you haven't just disconnected you ABS and are planning on using non-abs rotors on an abs equipped car. You do say it is a high series, brakes are not something to be played with or have cheap parts used on.

errrr, ford said my abs modeul is broke and they want 2100 to replace and fit. so abs and traction are none working.

so should i just get a au2 brake setupup upgrade.? where can i get such setups?

Don't get it from Ford, they'll rip you off so just go to a reputable brake specialist. Even go to a wrecker and get one from there at the same time as you get an AUII brake upgrade (or a BA one).

Have you done a full foot to the floor (and hold it) stop? Is your abs light on. If the light on the dash isn't illuminated, you probably still have your abs. Just go for a drive and do an emergency stop from 60kays. If your pedal's pulsing your abs is fine and Ford are trying to extort money from you.

If your abs light is on, and the brake test shows no pulsing, take your car to brakes plus or equivalent and ask them to check it for you.

I got a complete BA brake conversion from Ford Holden & 4WD wreckers in Brissy for $550 (plus freight to Newie!). Way cheaper than anywhere else although someone posted in the last few days they got theirs for $250 IIRC... lucky bastard.

That included lower control arms, uprights, sway bar & brackets, calipers & rotors. If you can't get one much under $1K then check out my post on the EA-AU1 upgrade.

That was me, basically got a whole front end off an au3 for $250, this is where living in WA is a benifit, because we're 5 years behind everyone else the au1 upgrade isn't too common yet! I still got the FTG brake upgrade though because i did so well with the other parts...still managed to keep it under $1000, currently fitting these now....fun times ahead. :

shhhh dont let em all no we want to keep our prices in W.A low LOL....yeah some bits are cheap over hear if ya shop around i got a BA front set-up calipers & rotors for $100 from a wreckers...i rang around em all there all vary alot in prices hey..there arnt to many with BA & BF but.....

Ford Holden spares in Malaga had a couple of BA front ends when i was there.

just brought series 2 parts for $400 complete with callipers,stub axles,bearings ,lower control arms, sway bar & brackets and brought the FTG upgrade 322mm from another member for $600 all up a grand ,just got to find time for install.
If you look hard enough you will find stuff cheaper

In some parts of the country the wreckers know this is a popular conversion and can charge accordingly. If you have time to look & find a country wrecker you should be able to get a price like that... I didn't at the time and $550 was good compared to $1000 from one wrecker and $800 from another.

I used one of the online part locator sites, there are a few, they can turn up some reasonable prices quickly, but I'd use yellow pages to find country wreckers for the best prices.

My local Ford wrecker reckons the lower control arms are getting rare & expensive in Newcastle as taxi owners are snapping them up to rebuild front ends. $100 for calipers & rotors sounds about right.

If my local wrecker had any, she'd charge about $450 for a pair of S2/3/BA lower control arms alone.
