Cats and Your Car...

Stupid @#)^#$& Cats sittin on my $^#&6& Car!!! Bloody ****in on the window!! Argghhh!!!

I've just moved house and have gone from having a lock up garage to a car port...First week it was ok (i think) But the next week, I would catch my house mates cat as well as the neighbours sitting on the roof of my car...one keeps ****ing on it too...Smelly stuff...
I've bought a Car cover and thats helping to protect it but they still sit on it and one has ****ed on the car cover already...

What is the best way to keep them off your car? (apart from snapping their neck)...

I have a different cat problem, quite often my pride is out of the garage when at home, and the cats insist on honing their drifting skills on my panels.

I could kill them...if only mum wasn't a cat lover =|

Try to catch them on the car and scare the hell out of them.

Run after them, throw little rocks at them.

I did this with some cats down the road a few years ago and they have never come back again.

The problem is, if you let your dog roam out of your property, people get ****ed off and complain and then they catch it and send it to the pound and you have to pay a fine etc, but what about cats? They roam around, on your car, front door, scratch your bonnet, kill your pet birds, terrorise small pets and everyone gets in a pickle if we suggest anything to try and stop them damaging our property...

I reckon the best thing to do is catch the farkker, and take the buggers to the pound, hopefully no one claims them and they go to catty heaven (or hell) pet owners SHOULD be responsible for their pets, regardless what it....

At Bunnings you can get this cat replant (there will be 2-3 different ones to choose- get the one with citronella oils- for ~$10-15) and spray around your car and probably the car it self.
The thing smells quite nice (for humans) but cats hate it. You'll probably need to reapply the stuff every now and then.
I used it when cats from the neighborhood ****ed and mated around my house (smelled and was noisy), and IT WORKED.

Leave a little bowl of engine coolant on the roof of your car. Something for them to refresh themselves while they are sunning themselves there......

Have a look at my old thread "Bucket", there's some good suggestions there, however some of the best stuff was deleted unfortunately, was damn funny too but one of the mods in this section (lovely lady I'm told) is a cat lover so me thinks this thread will go the same way as mine did?
The cat I mentioned in my thread has all but vanished so something must have worked (I tried many things)

I had the same problem with next doors cats, one morning when I was getting ready to leave for work it was on the bonnet I started the car it just sat there so I gave her a rev and the cat ran and sat on the drive way, I was reversing up and it just sat there I put up with this for all of about 2 minutes lol so I rolled forwards and screetched backwards and just missed the little bastard, it's never done it again though lol.

how are your neighbours getting on your roof? surely they aren't that dumb? LOL. they should know you need to sit inside on the seat not the roof?

The problem with most (not all) cat owners is that they think that their little moggie is so cute and cuddly and that their little darling pet couldn't possibly be responsible for any kind of anti social behaviour. And god help you if you dare to suggest otherwise or suggest that they keep their little darling inside or in its own back yard.

Leave the engine coolant there for it. It will drink some and then go home to die from kidney failure. But if the moggie never comes onto your property and vandalise your belongings then it can live a happy and cuddly long life. You do have the right to protect your property and belongings from vandalism.

I agree with you 100%, very well put.

Theres a few cats around my place, some have been around for over 10 yrs, its time for their reign to come to an end... if i had my dog go out and and pooh on someone elses property, i think they wouldnt hesitate to have him seized and me fined...

I know my local council hires out humane cat traps for free. The law here states that any animal (cat, dog, llama) is deemed feral as soon as it leaves the property (past the letter box) not under control of the owner. Therefore if you catch it the council welcome it with open arms. I think it has about 7 days before they destroy it. I notified my neighbours that this is what I was going to do if their cat continued to pi$$ on my car. Solved the problem pretty quickly.

Dude i am a cat lover and have 3 of them, all desexed and all purley indoor cats, Costs us $20 a week on kitty litter alone. I don't like hearing all the suggestions about killing them in jest or not. There have been a few decent suggestions made, The water pistol will work a treat, The cat repelent is a good one, and since you have a car cover put it all through or over that.
Or the Humane Traps available from the council or rspca, Try talking with your neighbours about the problem or why not make your cat an indoor cat only so the neighbour cat won't be around to hang with its mate.

We've got 2 cat's here (both De-Nutted) & 2 dogs ( 1 Wirehair Terrier , 1 Border Collie) , the cat's love having a "play" with the dogs in the back yard & have a bit of a "rumble" while the Mrs hangs the washing out , then it's back inside , one cat likes the TV , other likes the kitchen chair , so no probs there , litter tray in the laundry . So our conscience is clear . but still have trouble with cat's on the car , one disappears & it get's replaced by 2+ Grrrrr .

Now for part 2 ? ? ? Guess I''ll have to start experimenting , neighbour says a bucket of Cold Water works well? .

Strange you should say that, Thats the only time ours go outside also, only we have retractable leashes for them when they are outside. Our Oldest cat "Trinity" likes to roll in the dirt and then has to suffer a wash before she is allowed back inside.[IMG]

Both my OWN cats walk on my cars! If I see them and go out there to scold them they just run off the car scratching it in the process! Arrgghh!! Cats don't learn .. they understand but they just chose not to modify their behaviour.
