Has anyone got a copy of the newest roll cage specs that are required to run at Calder?
I was watching the highlights from Ford nationals on Gasolene and it didn't seem like some of the more street friendly cars had cages but were running 10.99 and faster. Or are they just tucked up and hidden nicely? Either way I'm going to start thinking about it for my car so I can run at Calder. Cheers

basically it is 42mm x 3mm wall tube.
standard 6 point. nothing exciting. joins must be notched, not squashed and welded.

Your choice of Chrome Moly or Cold Drawn Mild steel but it must be seemless. Size of the tube depends on which metal you choose. 6 point is only required 9.99s and quicker.
We purchase a mild steel kit from McDonald Bros in Thomastown. Ian Last edited by Ivan; 25-07-2012 at 08:20 PM. |

Cheers for the info fellas.
Got in contact with ANDRA and ordered a rulebook. Looks like a 6 point will be the go, I just happen to know someone with a notcher and mandrell bender, hey Pub? Lol The aims for mid 9's so might aswel put the 6 point in instead of half doing the job until we get there. Now decisions on mild or chrome, ehhh.

Probably will go down that route, anything to save weight on a already heavy **** car.

Calder is a Faster Track than Heathcote so your time will be better

Chromoly must be tig welded..
We just used an angle grinder with polishing disc to notch ends.. Dropped cage through floor to weld upper hoop then lifted & boxed floor..

I would contact Andrews race cars as a mate just got a cage done for his corty and the price for a ANDRA spec chrome molly weld in cage was less than half what others quoted him transported to his door.
