Have a question for ya...

From 0-60km/h (legal traffic light launch!) how does the stock AU SIII XR8 compare to other makes ie commodore. Please give makes and models of cars that are comparable.

Cheers,
Sly

AFF does not encourage street racing in any form. Take your question elsewhere.

You've answered your own Q ... you did say "legal traffic light launch". So what that means is that you will easily stay with a Ferrari F50. You will also easily stay with a Hyundai Excel.

Why don't you take it to the strip and do a few runs?

Won't get a ticket for doing it either.

Drag strips arn't always that easily accessable, your right it what you say but for some of us it takes alot of planning to evan have the chance to get down there and for XRLNT-8 being in SA it is evan harder.

Around 3 seconds to 60kmh if its a manual well thats what wheels said a ts50 with the 220kw motor would do anyway so xr8 might be even quicker with less weight.

Mate its hard to beat even a VN V6 commodore to 60 because they are just so quick out of the hole. They have a low 1st gear that really gets them going but after that it would by by VN when the XR8 starts to show it legs

There right 60kmh is not enough to see big diffrences in performance anyway bettween cars.

The reason I ask is that I have owned thirteen cars so far and this is the best yet but when you consider power to weight ratio etc it's hard to equate how quick the car is compared to others when you are only owning/driving one at a time.

The VN I had was quite good off the line but I reckon this is even better. Just curious thats all. (I'm definately NOT a street racer)

Cheers,
Simon

Where abouts is SA are you Simon ? There's an 8th mile strip in Whyalla that have "run what ya brung" sessions on a semi regular basis as well as full on meets a few times a year. If you're interested have a look at their site at http://www.steelcitydrags.com/ to find out when the next meeting is.

Cheers

hmmmm i might suss out the 1/8th mile one day. but yeah down here in SA the fact there is no street meets on all the quick cars get left at home or taken interstate. also ive noticed alot of traffic light heros popping up lately. nothing like taking off flat out in first to get the windsor to make some noise. its funny as i back off and change to second to not get over the speed limit the bloke who moments before was revving his car no longer feels the need to prove himself.
