Talking The power of the XR's I6 remind me of the good old HEMI !

I gotta say after a few weeks of owning this car, Im still dumb founded at the amount of power it has for a 6 cylinder . Last i ever remember a 6 coming close to this much power was the old HEMI like in the Valiants. ..lol ...

oh ..... just gotta mention too , allthough nothin too much to rave about , i find it amusing ...sort of !....

A mate of mine only just recenty got a mildly worked reconditioned 253 replaced in his VB crummydore, i gave him a run lastnight down in the back empty carparks of the docklands in the city , i absolutelly left him for dead from the word go , i didn't even have to stall it up ..lol .... poor bloke though , he spent nearlly $4000 trying to fix up his old crummydore a bit / to put a bit of life back in it, the look on his face after i beat him , i think he expected a tighter run , but not for me to just totally blow him away , felt sorry for the old bloke ..lol..

I would like to see that.

They can be made to go well by the right engine builder in the lighter Torana bodies.

I gave the mrs a run in the focus the other week. Nailed her. : Just kidding. (Nailed is not the correct term to use when referring to women in a public forum) :

Pounded her?
Hammered her?
Shafted her?

Not really working with any of them although I now have the urge to go surf some porn! :

You beat a 253 6 cyl VB? Holly crap. What will you take on next... a barina? Of course your gonna woop him. For a start, your EFI. $4000 can be easily justified in finding old as parts, or for a worked engine and can definatly be justified in labour. Plus, llok at fuel as well. You XR6 can prob run good with RON98 or there abouts. A VB running on... Super! I'm glad that you do find the XR6's a heap of moulded power nowadays, but dont use this for posting "Traffic Light Grand Prix" stories.

A holden 253 is a V8, not a 6cyl. I'd guess if it has been reconditioned it'd be running ULP now.

I was referring to au3 chaser's comment "You beat a 253 6 cyl VB?"... clarifying for his benefit.

good chance , depends when and where ????? , im definatelly coming to the meet in April at Albert Park Lake in Melbourne . Just cos I said the above - dont think im raving on saying 'I've' got a super fast car etc etc ...lol (u'll all whip me prolly ..lol ), same as any other xr6 i guess , but i am just very pleased with it since my last nice car was the XE ( years ago ). And yeah i know a Inline 6 is like woopee doo beating a 253 , i gathered it would no dramas too , except the bloke i ran against expected to keep up at least ! ..lmao , the look on his face was priceless after the whippin'.

And after driving around crappy little 4 cylinder jobs for the last 6 years or so since owning the XE , it sure is nice again to have that extra power for overtaking etc etc - and the occasional drag

: That explains it I think. Most of us have been brought up on I6's and V8's. I've never even owned a 4 potter but the ones I've driven have been pretty sad in the power department to be honest. I guess if you take that as "normal" then jumping into an XR6 would be like adding a warp drive. God help you if you had gotten a BA V8.

lol , yeah i missed that v8 in my XE for years, be4 i put an v8 in it and all the other goodies - it had only I/6 (250 crossflow) standard with that borg warner rubbish tranny, those old crossflow I'6 were pretty crap imo. The original older steel 250 I6's from back in the xw/xy days weren't bad .. I went to 4's for a few years for economy reasons ( little ford lasers and crap ) and for my own sake of not loosing my licence again for speeding and stuff ( cant help myself when i got the power ..lol ). I wouldn't mind an 8 again maybe , i nearlly got 1 except the missus was ИИИИИin about how much the XE used to cost to run back when fuel was cheap , not like nowerdays !!!! . ... im not really to fussed at the moment , happy with it as is for now , specially after spending thousands on mods years ago then over the years watching all those $$ rust away or break to pieces/ in the form of blowing diffs , blowing trannys burning out tyres ....lol ... goes good as is - ill prolly wait till something blows be4 i replace it with something better ..lol
