Default It let us down today

Well it had to happen sooner or latter, the misses took the SR wagon to the shops today as she was looking for a park she heard all sorts of noises from under the bonnet and naturally kept driving, until she couldnt steer it any more, and lights flashing on the dash, turned out the bloody power steering pump pulley broke(PLASTIC) which in turn broke the belt which then broke the belt tensioner in half................aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.what an afternoon.
Its all fixed now, like new, better(or lighter anyway) steering than before.

All up $75 for a pump,belt $25 ,$60 for a tensioner and $145 for the tow home.
I was going to change the belt this morning as well, but it was too cold..............so I told the misses to take it shopping in stead of her car.

A similar thing happened to my EF, luckily though I just installed a new pump assembly, no other damage, did it on the side of the road (ex missus was borrowing it so she called me & explained the problem, luckily I had a spare) so all went well. A tow would have cost me a few $$$ as in Vic the RACV only tow @8 klms on basic roadside membership, were/are you not a member of NRMA? If not, this may be worth considering as $145 is money better spent elsewhere. _2:

is a power steering pump only worth $75??? I would have thought more than that. ah well makes me feel a bit better about being slack and not checking the fluid as often as i should (I Have a leak, i am yet to find time to look at & Fix).

191000ks,all original parts to my knowledge so it wouldnt hurt fellas to go and have a quick look at your pullies as the water pump , as well as the 2 idler pullies
are also plastic. It was a very easy job to do as the tensioner has 3 bolts it just better not have to do it at all.I also found the idler pulley bearings are replacable 60032rs from memory so at least they are servicable.

These parts $$$$$ were second hand from Parts plus at narrellan.
