I'm concerned.
I had a bit of time on my hands this morning so I decided to make a bit of a show piece of a 300kw LS1 block that's been sitting in the garage for a few months. Taking into account the known reliability issues with this engine and the weight of routers and wireless modems these days... how long do you think it will last?

Be careful, be very careful.
Store out of all trafficable areas, keep any items of value at least 2 metres away from it. Insure said items sitting on top I would also look at Public Liability Insurance too |

That must be under extreme stress, If it begins to get hot submerge it in deep salt water but dont forget to weld a chain to it or you will lose it

yeah the forums keep slowing down cause the piston slap is interpreted as pinging by the knock sensor so the modem retards the connection speed

As a matter of interest is that actually YOUR engine, and if so where did you get it? I'd love to get an alloy V8 engine as a showpiece like that .. I've got a few donks lying about at home but don't want to drag a cast iron block into the house ..

just dont put too much stress on that poor block... i would hate to see all the time you spent in rebuilding it go to waste...
or was that the guys who cast the block in the first place... dont forget the OIL!!!

So the vibe I'm getting here is I'm tempting fate. Hmmmm. Better put another mat down at least.
BTW. My post this morning was not intended to imply that it's stolen. It was legitimately acquired.

the block is from a 300kw GTS, the case-hardening on a couple of cam lobes wore off so lots of little bits of metal got pumped round the engine. results required a new block (bores were all scored), pistons & rings, cam, lifters, bearings, oil pump etc. unlucky :S |

Geee ... they are pretty closeminded over there in the Red Army ... I don't think they understand the word humour (maybe one or 2 of them might)

I always thought a block like that would be good a speaker box. You could screw some nice speakers straight into the holes or get real high tech and attach a board to where the sump goes and put in a woofer tweeter and mid. You'd need another block though for stereo.
