2002 XR6 ute with 91000kms. Just noticed a clunk into first gear at the lights.
Ford serviced it, oil was burned. Suspect blocked line? Also update on CD's stuck in player. Jumped into the ute, saw red light on Cd player. Turned key and pushed in volume control...no radio. Now it's a box keeping 6 cd's prisoner, held up in my dashboard. |

Your fluid could just have been very, very old.
If the shifts (kickdown) from second to first in particular, but also others are harsh, its most likely the S5 solenoid. I was quoted $400 odd to replace it and the valve body. All the best with it. GK
