Do the front panel controls have their own circuit board with IC's and things? I could see down the back there was a ribbon cable from that area going to the ICC (I think) but it was more than 4 wires which is all that's needed for a CAN interface [refer back to the test bench comment], leading me to think the ICC handles those buttons. But I didn't pull the whole thing out (if it ain't broken, leave it alone!).
