Logically Passat should have taken longer to stabilise as the bigger engine block needs more time to warm up.Just wondering if this needs any further investigation?

What year Passat? My ‘95 Golf took a while to heat up and get back to low revs and it was similar time to your Passat. Although my Golf had 6 cylinders so might explain why it got to temp fast.
