Default Re: Mum looking at buying a Fiesta

I owned an XR4 from new.Water pump on it failed at 30000km,and was replaced under warranty. It failed again at @60,000 km.Very common problem on these.Water pump actually not that hard to replace, need to remove drivers side headlight to gain access to water pump bolts, but you will need to get under car to access drive belt tensioner as well so you can remove drive belt from water pump pulley.Much easier to do if you have access to a hoist, but not too hard to do at home with ramps/stands.Got rid of it at 90,000km due to numerous issues including burnt gearbox fluid/poor shifting, cracked washer bottle,2 failed rear wheel bearings, constantly blown headlight globes and failed drivers door lock mechanism making it impossible to lock car.None of these were cheap to fix.
If buying one of these cars, get it thoroughly checked by a professional, and dont get one with stripes as every idiot and his dog will want to race you.
