You're born male, female, or some form of intersex. Insisting you are a different gender to what your genetics determine you to be is an illness. It is medically defined as a disorder.
Why do we need to provide validation for a tiny fraction of the population? Yes, it sucks to be them, but it sucks to be a lot of people for a variety of different reasons,
Do we give schizophrenics multiple census forms, one for themselves and a few for their imaginary friends? People with MPD might want a few extras too.
