I'd say it's a mostly side effect from cars that are primarily produced for the LHD market and our compliance/ADR's aren't strict enough to do anything about it.
Don't get me wrong, there's lots to like about having a left side blinker switch in a RHD. Keep your arm or durrie out the window when indicating...
