i have too side with the manufacturer on this one , a lot of the motoring public just don`t have a clue, auto oil can foam up and give you a false reading, dudes can over fill them, they froth out the tube and set fire to the car, i have seen this, better off to just have the auto serviced before a long trip or holiday season, if its up to date theres no problems. engine oil is much easier to check , as far as the engine dipstick goes as the engine gets older it needs more top ups, auto`s well serviced don`t.
