I did this same conversion about 8 months ago and I got the motor to fit under the 4cyl bonnet. I used the standard little carb on the log manifold and the standard air cleaner and it fit under the bonnet by about half an inch.
Don't let the gearbox mount scare you away from it either. You can make an adapter bracket to fit to the 6cyl gearbox. It's a little bit of work but nothing worth having is trouble free.
Try ebay for the stuff you need (sump, tailshaft, oil pickup etc.) and go for it.
