I would go for the mini guages too, that's what I had in my Datsun 1600. Although I had them where your stereo is. I'm sure we'll work out somewhere to put them.
Your welcome for finding the book, it's already proven useful on the 1.3L and when it comes time to pull down and rebuild the 1.6L I'm sure it will get plenty of use. So it will come in handy for both of us.
